Job Summary

The Sr. HVAC/R Technician is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for Alcami's refrigeration, HVAC-R, and building systems. This role requires leading preventive maintenance, developing procedures, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facilities Manager with team member performance and goals/reviews.
  • Auxiliary in scheduling and monitoring team members' duties.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for HVAC-R inquiries when the Facilities Manager is unavailable.
  • Monitor and maintain Alcami’s refrigeration, HVAC-R, and building systems and equipment through PMs and responding to equipment failures.
  • Predictively maintain and troubleshoot Alcami’s HVAC-R and refrigeration systems using visual inspection and data input of the predictive monitoring system.
  • Identify, order, and maintain an inventory of spare parts for applicable Alcami equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair/maintain complex equipment.
  • Create and modify PM checklists as required.
  • Gather and document data to justify projects.
  • Lead projects, perform work, and/or coordinate with other team members/departments or outside contractors as needed to complete projects.
  • Maintain gas, plumbing, dry air, and RO water systems; perform sheet metal/duct work.
  • Lead site installations.
  • Work with and coordinate with other trades on the Facilities team.
  • Develop and comply with all policies and work instructions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and participate in 5S activities.
  • Provide SME knowledge and support as needed to Alcami for maintenance, troubleshooting, audits on spare parts/PMs/etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HVAC-R experience.
  • EPA certificate – section 608 EPA certificate for refrigerants required prior to license.
  • High School diploma, Military, Technical School, or Associate’s Degree.
  • Refrigeration license.
  • Prior pharmaceutical experience preferred.

Preferred qualifications include excellent knowledge of cGMP in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment, excellent verbal communications and presentation skills, advanced electrical troubleshooting, strong knowledge of general OSHA safety requirements, strong understanding of Standard Operating Procedures, ability to read P&ID’s and electrical schematics, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), working knowledge of Control Systems, PLCs & HMIs, working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems to schedule and document work performed, soldering and brazing.

On-Site Expectations

  • 100% on-site position.
  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Travel Expectations

Up to 5% travel required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for specific job duties to be performed. Such personal protective equipment may include, but not limited to safety eyewear, hearing protection, various types of respirators/breathing apparatus, lab coats, full protective body coverings, various types of gloves, etc. Additionally, the employee may be required to operate an industrial vehicle.
