About the role
The Senior HR Specialist is responsible for conducting day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including recruiting, employee relations, benefits, responding to complex employee requests, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position works to improve the workplace environment, address employee issues, and support the company's overall strategies.
Responsibilities
- Fully support the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews
- Effectively address current and former employee inquiries and concerns, mediating disputes, and fostering a positive work environment
- Prepare, process, and review multi-state payroll on a biweekly basis, including completion of necessary Status Change Forms, tracking and reconciling FMLA and other leaves, reimbursements/charges, commissions, bonuses, merit increases, and other required adjustments
- Provide oversight of benefits programs including initial enrollment, qualifying events, communication, and annual Open Enrollment coordination with Corporate Benefits
- Ensure that HR practices and policies comply with labor laws, regulations, and company guidelines
- Support the performance review process, providing feedback to employees, and helping managers develop their teams
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations
- Provide input for department budget, track and maintain HR Department metrics, and prepare several standard reports for management
- Help develop and implement HR policies and procedures specific to Legend Brands
- Communicate HR information to employees, such as updates on benefits, policies, or new programs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of previous directly applicable experience
- Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems, such as ADP, Oracle, etc.
- Expert-level guidance on HR compliance, legal requirements, and regulatory filings
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder communication skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws affecting payroll (e.g., FLSA, ACA, and wage & hour laws)
- Knowledge of health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k)/retirement plans, and leave policies
- Knowledge of proper handling, storage, and protection of sensitive HR documentation and personnel files
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with others in and outside of the organization
- Skilled in resolving HR-related issues such as benefits discrepancies, employee complaints, and process inefficiencies
- Ability to provide professional, empathetic support to employees and build trust across all levels of the organization
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential projects with accuracy and discretion
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
Pay
$34.00 - $38.00 per hour, DOE
