About the role

Join a diverse and dynamic team of operations and engineers dedicated to delivering high-quality medical device products to patients around the world. Our team focuses on packaging, labeling, and distribution operations, working hands-on with advanced, high-volume equipment to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards. We collaborate closely across Quality Engineering, Regulatory, R&D, Equipment Engineering, and Operations to design, optimize, and sustain robust processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader for automation and manufacturing equipment systems within packaging and labeling operations.
  • Responsible for maximizing equipment performance, reliability, and lifecycle through maintenance excellence, controls optimization, continuous improvement, and project execution.
  • Leverage your expertise in PLCs, machine vision systems, automation, and data analytics to help ensure safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Lead the technical support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated packaging, labeling, and distribution equipment.
  • Own equipment reliability initiatives by identifying chronic failures, performing root cause investigations, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment uptime, asset utilization, and operational performance.
  • Troubleshoot and support PLC, HMI, motion control, and industrial network systems to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and optimize machine vision systems, including inspection performance, false reject reduction, and system robustness.
  • Lead equipment upgrade, obsolescence management, and lifecycle improvement projects to ensure long-term operational sustainability.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve throughput, quality, and equipment effectiveness using data-driven decision making.
  • Leverage equipment, maintenance, and production data to identify optimization opportunities, improve asset performance, and drive measurable gains in throughput, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Support equipment qualifications, software validations, and engineering change activities within a regulated medical device environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working with manufacturing processes, preferably in packaging, labeling, or high-volume production environments.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to build, interpret, and present KPI dashboards to drive decision-making.
  • Proven ability to manage self-directed projects—prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on mindset with demonstrated success working directly with equipment, processes, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, root cause analysis) to drive measurable improvements.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining commitments.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, quality, regulatory, and operations teams.
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., medical device, pharma, or similar quality systems).
  • Technical expertise in PLC-based automation and machine vision systems, including troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle support of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell controls and Cognex or equivalent vision platforms in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.

Skills

  • Experience with PLC-based automation and machine vision systems.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell controls and Cognex or equivalent vision platforms.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Project management and leadership experience.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Collaboration and communication skills.

Benefits

A full and comprehensive benefits program, growth opportunities on a global scale, access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement, an exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
