About the role

The Sr. Grants and Contracts Specialist will be assigned to our post-award team and will be assigned a portfolio of grants and contracts to manage. The Sr. GCS will be the sponsor-facing contractual and administrative point of contact from award receipt to closeout; internally, they will be responsible for ensuring compliance and proper setup in Children's grants management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as expert advisor to faculty, and other departments for general inquiries and concerns.
  • Provides official proposal review to check for errors, missing or incomplete information according to sponsor requirements and proposal guidelines.
  • Coordinates timeline for proposal submissions.
  • Submits the final approved proposal to the funding agency or sponsor.
  • Negotiates legal terms and conditions for the industry-sponsored clinical trial agreement.
  • Reviews and contract negotiations for patient-care budgets forwarded to the Clinical Trial Office (CTO).
  • Reviews and submits scientific progress reports, JIT requests, and other similar requests.
  • Reviews and submits administrative requests such as change in scope or key personnel, no-cost extensions, supplemental requests, etc.
  • Updates department information systems and official records to keep information accurate, complete, and up-to-date at all times.
  • Speaks up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance.
  • Validates and verifies information needed for decision making or documentation.
  • Takes time to resolve situations when faced with uncertainty.
  • Communicates accurately, clearly, and timely both verbally and in writing.
  • Practices Stop, Think, Act and Review to self-check behavior and performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Care, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum Work Experience: Master's Degree in similar fields, 3 years progressive experience in grants or contracts related to biomedical research, and/or healthcare/medical programs and services.
  • Preferred Office Environment: Central or department administration, office of sponsored programs, office of research administration, university or medical center setting, or federal grant-making agency.

Skills

  • Working Knowledge: NIH Grants Policy Statement (12/03), FAR and DFAR clauses, OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133 in addition to 45 CFR Part 74, Appendix E.
  • Math Ability Level: Basic Algebra and Statistics.
  • Human Relations Skill Level: Critical.
  • Computer Skill Requirements: Critical. Hardware: PC compatible. Software: MS Office including Word and Excel are critical. MS Access and PowerPoint are a plus. HBOC Trendstar is a plus. Ability to use formatting commands and higher level commands and functions are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to achieve credentialing as Certified Research Administrator (CRA) within three years of employment.

Pay

$65,124.80 - $108,555.20
