Alexa is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Science team, supporting the development of the latest Alexa architecture. Amazon has pioneered several high-performing digital businesses such as Kindle, Kindle Fire Tablets, Fire TV, and Echo. This role offers an opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to contribute to one of Amazon’s fastest-growing segments.

About the Role

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will collaborate closely with the science, engineering, and business leaders to identify growth opportunities and develop business cases. You will be responsible for leading the financial planning and forecasting process for science-driven initiatives under Alexa+. Your role will involve building and presenting KPI dashboards, communicating product performance, and managing financial resources.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the financial planning and forecasting process for science-driven business initiatives under Alexa+

  • Building and presenting KPI dashboards with financial and business insights each month and quarter for specific business metrics

  • Owning finance communication with the business teams on product performance, long-term planning, risks, and opportunities

  • Driving automation and scale of financial reporting in order to simplify processes for internal stakeholders (e.g., finance peers and monetization partners)

  • Leading deep dives into key cost drivers for month-end reviews, forecasts, and annual operating plans

  • Partnering with the business to make trade-off decisions regarding resourcing and support levels, including ownership of review meetings

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience

  • 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or a combination of a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
