About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Accountant to support core finance and reporting activities for a banking organization in the Burlington, Massachusetts area. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in monthly and quarterly reporting, account analysis, consolidations, and regulatory filings while partnering with finance and related business teams. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting and financial analysis skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly financial reporting packages, including performance summaries, balance sheet reporting, profitability metrics, and analytical insights for leadership and board-level review.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc submissions for banking regulators and other external oversight bodies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness (FDIC and Federal Reserve).
  • Reconcile designated general ledger accounts for subsidiary entities and investigate outstanding items through resolution.
  • Execute intercompany eliminations and support consolidated financial reporting at month-end across multiple entities.
  • Record assigned journal entries during the close process and help maintain the integrity of financial results.
  • Support investment accounting activities by tracking transactions such as acquisitions, income receipts, sales, redemptions, and related events.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation by assembling financial statement schedules, disclosures, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to financial reporting for real estate-related subsidiaries and help maintain documentation for finance policies, procedures, controls, and risk areas.
  • Participate in special finance projects and provide cross-functional backup support to ensure departmental coverage and continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • At least 3-6 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with solid analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, along with the adaptability to learn new financial systems and digital tools quickly.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, manage sensitive information appropriately, and operate effectively in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of financial statements, general ledger activity, intercompany accounting, and banking or regulatory reporting is strongly preferred.
