Category Field Service Job Location Ashland, KY, US Position Type Full-Time/Regular Location Various Regional Locations Schedule Monday through Friday, typical business hours Overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel as needed On-call rotation required Overview This is a hands-on field service role focused on the testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of electrical power equipment. You will work at customer facilities performing complex electrical and mechanical tasks while helping ensure power systems operate safely and reliably. If you enjoy problem solving, working independently, and supporting critical infrastructure, this role offers variety and technical challenge every day. What You Will Do Field service operations Perform testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs on electrical power equipmentInspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in substations and power systemsRead and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and technical documentationComplete service reports, testing documentation, and customer deliverablesSupport emergency response work and customer outage situations as neededMaintain tools, test equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and organized condition Electrical testing and technical support Perform transformer testing including power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, winding resistance, and related testingConduct cable testing including insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, and partial discharge testingPerform circuit breaker testing, diagnostics, and maintenanceTest and troubleshoot protective relays and associated control systemsAssist with installation, startup, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipmentIdentify equipment issues and recommend corrective actions Project and safety support Support planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projectsParticipate in and lead safety meetings, training sessions, and job briefingsEstablish and follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practicesEnsure compliance with company, customer, and industry safety standardsProvide guidance and technical support to less experienced technicians May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks, and work may be assigned. What Success Looks Like Testing and maintenance activities are completed safely and accuratelyEquipment issues are identified, documented, and resolved efficientlyProjects are completed on schedule and within customer expectationsDocumentation, reports, and expense submissions are completed on timeCustomers receive professional service and clear communicationTools, vehicles, and testing equipment are maintained in good working order What We Are Looking For High school diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, military experience, or related technical training preferredEight or more years of experience in electrical testing, maintenance, commissioning, or substation workStrong knowledge of electrical power systems and testing proceduresAbility to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issuesFamiliarity with NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA, DOT, and related industry standardsStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsComfortable using Microsoft Office, email, and technical reporting systemsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesNETA certification or ability to obtain NETA Level III or IV certification Physical And Work Requirements Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 poundsAbility to work in electrical substations and industrial environmentsFrequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, and kneelingAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to travel for overnight and multi-day assignmentsValid driver's license requiredAbility to pass required background screening, motor vehicle screening, and drug and alcohol testing We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
