About the Role

The Sr. Fabrication Lead fabricates orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics, and workmanship. This role requires staying current with new fabrication techniques, understanding material properties, and skillfully using appropriate equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices according to Company quality and quantity standards.
  • Perform ordering, receiving, and other inventory tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain 5S standards to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Train new employees and assist management with developing employees’ skills.
  • Assess workload, direct tasks, and delegate within the department.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement by suggesting new tools, safety measures, and process enhancements (e.g., improving orders, sustaining 5S).
  • Work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understanding implications and recommending solutions.
  • Communicate daily with Sr. Supervisor on team effectiveness and needs.
  • Problem-solve by identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions quickly.
  • Use laboratory tools safely and effectively with strong mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination.
  • Triage work instructions and work orders to communicate corrections to clinicians while maintaining focus on the patient.
  • Implement and uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Work on complex assignments independently, developing methods and procedures for new tasks.
  • Train new employees in areas of expertise.
  • Act with integrity, keeping the patient at the center of all decisions and fostering open collaboration.
  • Continuously innovate new solutions, influencing and responding to change.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 4 years of related experience, OR
  • Without a high school diploma/GED, 6 years of experience in O&P environments (e.g., machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry), OR
  • A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school and 7 years of related experience.

Skills

  • Substantial understanding of fabrication and repair of prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces).
  • Ability to independently complete all General Orthotic or Prosthetic devices from start to finish using more than two types of componentry (expertise in either Orthotics or Prosthetics).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead by example, demonstrating Hanger’s values.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Proficiency in using the Skills Matrix for task performance.
  • Expertise in either Orthotics or Prosthetic Devices.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM.

Pay

Pay range of $35.89–$44.47 per hour, plus bonus and benefits. This range complies with state law and may vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, geographic location, and other factors.
