Sr. Estimator/Project Director

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts within new and existing markets, including client relationship development, market entry strategy, contractor prequalification, and identification of qualified project opportunities.
  • Evaluate and pursue opportunities that align with the Company's strategic, operational, and financial objectives, including bid/no-bid recommendations, pursuit planning, risk evaluation, and competitive positioning.
  • Lead estimating and preconstruction activities, including scope review, cost development, proposal preparation, pricing strategy, constructability evaluation, and contract negotiations.
  • Manage the transition of awarded work from estimating into operations, ensuring the project team has a clear understanding of scope, budget, schedule, execution strategy, risks, and commercial commitments.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of projects from award through completion, with accountability for safety, quality, schedule, cost, productivity, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Manage project commercial and contractual matters, including change management, risk mitigation, documentation, claims, subcontractor and supplier performance, and protection of the Company's contractual interests.
  • Maintain effective project controls and financial oversight, including forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, productivity tracking, budget management, billing, cash flow, and margin performance.
  • Lead project closeout activities and post-project reviews, ensuring financial and contractual completion, documentation of lessons learned, and incorporation of project performance into future estimating and execution strategies.
  • Maintain client relationships throughout the full project lifecycle and identify opportunities for repeat business and long-term market growth.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mentor and resource for estimators, project managers, project engineers, and field personnel.
  • Promote collaboration between estimating and operations.
  • Affiliate with developing standardized estimating, project management, cost control, and project turnover procedures as needed.
  • Participate in recruiting and developing personnel needed to support expansion into new markets.
  • Support executive management in evaluating market opportunities, major project pursuits, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Help establish a culture of accountability for safety, quality, schedule, productivity, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in estimating, project management, preconstruction, or construction operations.
  • Strong experience in heavy civil, industrial, petrochemical, manufacturing, energy, data center, infrastructure, or similar construction markets preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing large construction estimates.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from preconstruction through completion.
  • Strong understanding of earthwork, underground utilities, structural concrete, foundations, civil construction, and related scopes of work.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, production rates, labor planning, equipment utilization, and project scheduling.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating construction contracts and commercial terms.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, forecasting, cost controls, and change management.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with owners, EPC contractors, general contractors, and other clients.
  • Ability to independently identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to support business development, estimating, and project execution.
  • Willing to travel within the United States.

Physical

  • Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legs
  • Hand/eye coordination
  • Must be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work
  • Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work
  • May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

Work Environment

  • The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights.
  • Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur.
  • Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments.
  • Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the particular project.
