We're currently hiring Senior Electrical Estimators across multiple renewable energy business units, including Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage (BESS).

About the role

As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you'll play a key role in developing competitive, innovative, and technically sound proposals for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Working closely with Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management, you'll develop conceptual electrical solutions that help bring projects from early opportunity through contract award.

A typical day may involve reviewing Owner RFPs, evaluating electrical designs, coordinating with Engineers of Record (EOR), utilities, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders, while preparing estimates for collection systems, substations, underground cable systems, utility interconnections, SCADA, protection and control systems, and other electrical infrastructure. You'll identify technical risks, evaluate constructability, develop value engineering solutions, and help position projects for successful execution.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and calculates cost of project safety requirements (training, PPE) into bid.
  • Identifies and determines JHA risks and includes costs in estimates.
  • Pursues, selects, and utilizes subcontractors who meet risk management criteria.
  • Displays personal and professional ethics and complies with and enforces company policies and procedures when bidding projects, including utilizing company estimating software, performing bid reviews, etc.
  • Takes personal responsibility to ensure that a quality bid has been produced.
  • Plan the estimate for and during the pre-bid meeting.
  • Create preliminary project schedule during estimate.
  • Supervises and provides development of subordinates through mentoring, formal training, and exposure to diverse work experiences.
  • Conduct project site visits and review cost/production reports to compare actual cost and plan to estimate and conduct special studies to develop and establish standard cost data.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work, required contents of estimate, and critical tasks to complete the project.
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, materials, etc.
  • Calculate statistical data necessary for bid: quantity take-offs, materials, labor, equipment, and specialty items.

Requirements

  • Four-year construction or engineering degree with five to seven years of experience as an Estimator or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in mathematics including algebra and geometry; or equivalent training and/or experience; with an emphasis in Renewable Construction – focusing on Solar, Wind, and BESS techniques.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Some travel is required.

Skills

  • Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy or power infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of collection systems, substations, utility interconnections, underground cable systems, protection and control systems, SCADA, grounding, and power delivery infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting value engineering, constructability reviews, technical risk assessments, and proposal development.
  • Experience collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), utilities, Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, and Construction teams.

Pay

$100,561.00 - $145,814.00. Individual compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
