Key Responsibilities
- Manage and perform quantity takeoffs and material surveys in accordance with established estimating procedures.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor, supplier, and equipment pricing to support competitive bids.
- Prepare comprehensive bid summaries, cost analyses, and estimate reviews for management approval.
- Develop and submit bid proposals, scope letters, bid forms, and supporting documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Generate Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate clarifications with owners, engineers, and design teams as needed.
- Participate in project handoff and turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations.
- Work independently or collaboratively with estimating teams to meet proposal deadlines.
- Conduct site visits and field evaluations to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Review plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents to identify project risks, opportunities, and scope requirements.
- Auxiliary in the development of pricing strategies and project-specific cost models.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical estimating experience.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing complete project estimates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess project risks and pricing variables.
- Experience preparing bid packages and supporting documentation for public and private sector projects.
- Ability to prioritize multiple bids and meet demanding deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Experience with electrical estimating software is preferred; familiarity with ConEst or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Background
- Experience estimating commercial, industrial, utility, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of subcontractor procurement, vendor coordination, and strategic bid development.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
