Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and improve environmental compliance programs at SpaceX’s Silicon Engineering and Satellites locations including Redmond, WA, Woodinville, WA, Sunnyvale, CA, Irvine, CA and Palo Alto, CAMaintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by applicable California, Washington and federal regulatory agenciesTrack, review, and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to managementPerform environmental audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agenciesOperate and maintain the compliance calendar and other recordkeeping and environmental tracking softwareMaintain site operational compliance plans including the storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) and spill prevention control and countermeasures plan (SPCC)Responsible for air compliance, recordkeeping and reporting requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local regulatory agenciesMaintain the site’s hazardous materials business plan including updates and regulatory submittals Maintain the site’s industrial wastewater discharge permit including updates and regulatory submittalsResponsible for hazardous waste compliance and regulatory reportingCoordinate and manage contractors for permitting and environmental testing. Review and maintain reports and other relevant records from assessments and permitting activitiesAssist the Environmental Health and Safety team with site operational compliance as neededAssist in planning for changes in physical facilities, reviewing new or modified equipment and new manufacturing programs to meet regulatory and permitting requirementsDevelop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and county regulatorsDevelop and maintain positive and close working relationships with engineering teams across the site

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree5+ years of professional experience in the design, development, and execution of environmental and regulatory compliance programsExperience working multi-site operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an emphasis in environmental engineeringExperience in environmental field with 6+ years of environmental and regulatory compliance in a dynamic manufacturing environmentCalifornia and Washington regulatory and environmental compliance experienceExperience developing and maintaining air emissions permits under California Air Quality Management Districts/Air Pollution Control Districts and Washington State Department of Ecology jurisdictionExperience permitting and maintaining industrial discharges through the Los Angeles County Sanitation District and Washington State Department of EcologyExperience developing and maintaining SWPPPs and site BMPs for stormwater compliance in California and WashingtonExperience with following agencies: California Air Quality Management District/Air Pollution Control Districts, Los Angeles County Sanitation District, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Certified Unified Program Agency, Department of Toxic Substances Control, Washington State Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection AgencyStrong written and verbal communication skills. Experience handling highly technical data and technical data interpretationTrack record of successful analysis, interpretation, and application of rules and regulations towards practical solutionsAble to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with other engineers, managers, federal, state and county agencies.Ability to handle many projects at once, prioritize work, and work efficientlyAbility to work independently and respond at a short noticeHighly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with ongoing drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of workExperience using booking systems

Pay Range: Level 3: $130,000.00 - $190,000.00 Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
