Sr. Engineering Technician I
Job Summary
This position is responsible for initiating and performing defined technical activities such as performing studies and tests which support engineering. Will develop and implement technical projects to improve products, processes, or technologies on a project basis.
Job Details/Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
- SME (Subject Matter Expert) with in-depth knowledge and technical proficiency in support of the widest range of engineering activities such as test, modification, fabrication, and assembly; including identifying potential improvement opportunities and proposing technical solutions to optimize products, processes, and/or equipment.
- Build complex prototypes, sub-assemblies, and prepare feasibility test units, samples; may include making material recommendations.
- Develop, procure, construct, evaluate and validate new equipment, tools, and fixtures. Perform operational tests and identify failure modes.
- Perform complex work using drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
- Collect, document, and analyze test data.
- Operate a wide range of lab equipment including set-up, clean-up, break-down, and re-assembly.
- Train, coach, and guide lower-level employees on new procedures, assess work techniques, and provide feedback to engineers on procedures.
- Design and build simple fixtures, using sketches, CAD, etc.
- Perform test method development and validation for equipment.
- May create and modify drawings and procedures for fixtures, equipment, products, or processes.
- May initiate ECRs (Engineering Change Request)
- Understanding of good documentation practices is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Background Experiences
- Associates Degree or technical degree/certificate with 12 years experience in R&D Lab and/or medical device experience required or a minimum 15 years related experience required. Medical device electro-mechanical product development experience is preferred.
- Basic computer software skills, i.e., Microsoft Office.
Pay
The annualized base salary range for this role is $94,760.00 to $119,478.00. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, internal equity, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
