About the role
The Engineering Technician I position is located in Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) division in Plymouth, MN. This division focuses on advancing treatments for heart disease through innovative medical technologies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess training for multiple manufacturing processes (e.g., manual assembly, inspection, soldering, microscope-assisted assembly, automated systems).
- Maintain training records, certification documentation, and trainee performance tracking.
- Monitor trainee output and scrap; support retraining and recertification efforts.
- Perform routine process audits of personnel, tooling, and equipment; support corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, company procedures, and quality standards; train others on proper documentation and line clearance procedures.
- Compile and analyze data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Training to improve work instructions and training materials.
- Communicate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Temporary Alerts to production.
- Identify and resolve routine manufacturing issues; escalate complex issues as needed.
- Support Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of manufacturing or assembly experience, including work or lead direction responsibilities.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
- Experience using standard hand tools in regulated manufacturing environments (medical or bio-device preferred).
- Experience in FDA-regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Experience working in matrixed or cross-functional organizations is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple organizational levels.

Pay
The base pay for this position is $23.55 – $47.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
