Job Description

The Senior Engineering Manager – Power Converters is a key people leader role in the Electrical Subsystem organization in GE Vernova Wind. In this role you will have functional responsibility for a team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers who design wind turbine power converters.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of electrical and mechanical engineers responsible for MW-scale wind turbine power converter design and development.
  • Set team priorities, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with subsystem, product, and business objectives.
  • Lead development of power converter systems across concept, design, validation, industrialization, and lifecycle support.
  • Ensure converter designs meet performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive technical decision-making and issue resolution for all converter platforms.
  • Partner with Systems and Operations to deliver on NPI commitments.
  • Align closely with interfacing Subsystems to ensure seamless electrical, mechanical, and software integration.
  • Lead technology roadmap development for converters in partnership with the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center.
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, talent development, performance management, and the development of robust design practices and incorporation of lessons learned.
  • Establish communication consistency with internal customers and support external customer meetings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with power converter design.

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven track record of advocacy and adherence to electrical safety and safe working practices.
  • Experience leading an engineering team with direct reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to simplify complex issues for broader internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with ability to motivate and provide positive and candid reinforcement to team.
  • Experience writing product or system requirements documents
  • Experience applying Lean principles to solving technical challenges.
  • Knowledge of wind turbines and power converters.
  • Ability to develop strategic vision and follow through.
  • Demonstrated clear thinker with ability to navigate complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
