This position is for an engineering manager in the Engineering Shared Infrastructure Services (ESSI) team. The ESSI team is responsible for the cloud and data center infrastructure supporting our internal Engineering Labs around the world. We are looking for a thought leader and people manager experienced in Cloud infrastructure, Data Center Infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE practices to reinforce and build on a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and efficiency.
About the role
This role will empower engineers, recruit, hire, and mentor directs while acting as a coach and guide. You will provide feedback to help engineers grow and expand their professional development, outline expectations, support directs in their scrum teams, and offer assistance where necessary for their success.
Responsibilities
- Act as an advisor and coach to directs on their work and team dynamics
- Performance manage directs to enable engineers to operate at their highest potential
- Source, interview, and hire candidates for open positions; onboard, guide, and evaluate staff; develop performance improvement plans; and take corrective action as needed
- Align engineers to the corporate and organization’s strategy
- Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect immediate organization(s)
- Evaluate and review new technologies for applicability to product architecture and design
- Present, evangelize, and communicate with partner teams and stakeholders
- Gather feedback and establish a continuous improvement process
- Collaborate with partner teams and coordinate between team members in the US and Hyderabad
- Represent the Engineering Lab Infrastructure Services (ELIS) team in Hyderabad

Requirements
- Change management experience
- In-depth knowledge of on-prem and public cloud technology
- Knowledge of Arista EOS, Juniper JunOS, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Dell Networking OS
- Deep understanding of L2/L3 networking, routing protocols, and high availability systems
- Experience with virtualization platforms: OpenStack, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM
- Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and systems engineering
- Scripting and automation knowledge (Python, Bash, Perl)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and networking
- Experience with storage technologies and network configurations
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a plus
- Proficiency in software engineering methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of on-prem data center infrastructure environments
- Engineering and application delivery expertise
- Demonstrated ability to guide and coach engineers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in written communications
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree
- 13+ years software infrastructure management experience
- 5+ years leading or managing a team
Pay
The annual base pay for this position is $216,800.00 - $325,200.00. F5 maintains broad salary ranges to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions. You may also be offered incentive compensation, bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
