About the role
The INFOPS Application Development team operates within WWT’s Internal IT Platform Engineering organization and focuses on enabling developers. The team builds and evolves platforms, workflows, and automation that allow application teams to safely and efficiently self-service infrastructure, deployments, and integrations. Our work emphasizes Platform Engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and automation.
Responsibilities
- Help design, build, and maintain a hybrid platform environment, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud services.
- A core responsibility of this role is owning and evolving the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including configuration and lifecycle management across development, testing, and production environments.
- Design, write, and maintain GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines that automate application delivery to Kubernetes platforms.
- This includes deploying and operating distributed applications using Helm charts, developing and maintaining Kubernetes operators where appropriate, and continuously improving delivery workflows through automation and standardization.
- Build and maintain automation, self-service workflows, and platform capabilities that reduce manual effort and remove common bottlenecks.
- Work closely with internal customers to understand requirements and engineer scalable, repeatable solutions aligned to business needs.
- Collaborate with partner engineering teams across WWT to align standards and drive efficiencies.
- Provide technical leadership through design collaboration, mentoring, and cross-training.
- Maintain platform performance and availability, proactively identify and remediate issues, troubleshoot complex incidents, and participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Document clearly and communicate effectively, balancing project delivery with operational responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering.
- Comfort working alongside AI-powered tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, validation, and accountability for outcomes.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production workloads.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes-based platforms across development, test, and production environments.
- Experience administering or enabling at least one enterprise platform or shared service such as: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Apache Solr.
- Experience with service mesh architectures, traffic management, or load balancing in Kubernetes environments.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Codefresh, APIs, and GitOps-based approaches.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration-as-code, and automation practices (e.g., Helm, Ansible, Terraform, YAML-based pipelines).
- Strong Linux skills with demonstrated knowledge of operating system concepts and administration.
- Experience with monitoring and observability solutions; experience with Prometheus and Grafana is a strong plus.
- Comfort scripting or coding in languages such as Shell, Python, or Node.js.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- A self-starter mindset with strong ownership, organization, and a passion for learning new technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
