About the role
Ayar Labs is seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer in San Jose, CA to help revolutionize photonic interconnects for high-performance computing. The role involves hands-on lab work and Python scripting to automate electronics test hardware and simulation tools, improving workflow efficiency. While prior photonics experience is not required, the ideal candidate will be eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop Python tooling to support hardware verification and lab automation.
- Create Python tooling to automate Signal and Power Integrity simulations.
- Interface with and automate hardware test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, DAQs, and power supplies.
- Perform Signal and Power Integrity measurements on PCB, die, and substrates.
- Conduct Signal and Power Integrity simulations in Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 4 years of industry experience.
- Strong fundamental background in electromagnetics (EM).
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, VNAs, signal analyzers, and signal generators.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing Signal Integrity simulations using tools from Ansys, Cadence, or Keysight.
- Experience automating workflows for Signal Integrity simulations.
- Experience automating hardware lab equipment using SCPI.
- Experience using high-speed probing equipment to measure PCB or HDBU substrates.
