Job Overview

The Hershey Company Robinson plant is a non-union facility producing products like PayDay, Heath, Skor, Milk Duds, Whoppers & Reese’s Pieces in a fast-paced environment. The Electrical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the plant’s electrical, control, networking, and power systems are fully operational and reliable.

Accountabilities

  • Provides technical leadership and support to Plant Operational and Maintenance staff in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and optimization of existing electrical, electrical controls, networking, power systems, PLC, HMI or high-speed servo control systems; common controls networking systems within a manufacturing environment; control safety systems and NFPA 70E; electrical and electronic industrial instrumentation automation and process control; industrial computer systems; motor control; distributed control systems and other automation.
  • Supports the plant’s maintenance functions, leads, and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides technical assistance to internal and external project teams, develops, writes, and manages projects of limited scope, assists project teams with equipment checkout and startup, coordinates contractors, and engineers and designs solutions.
  • Ensures that the plant electrical drawings and software are securely maintained and kept up to date.

Prior Experience

  • Demonstrated and recognized breadth of expertise in several types of manufacturing equipment and related operations (Processing equipment, Packaging, Systems Controls, Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Supervise, coordinate, and provide recognized leadership with supplier companies, external technical resources, and internal customers (Engineering, Plant Staff, Co-Manufacturing, Operations Planning, Acquisitions, Finance, Warehouse Administration).
  • Primarily responsible for technical problem resolution and implementation on existing manufacturing systems as well as on new systems being installed.
  • Identifies and implements creative technical solutions for complex equipment and system problems utilizing existing and new technologies while meeting Manufacturing requirements.
  • Understands project management tools and requirements such as purchase requisitioning, contractor time monitoring, internal orders, and project timelines.
  • Leverages existing technologies within the corporation whenever appropriate.
  • Provides mentoring on new and/or improved technologies to engineering personnel, manufacturing, and other customer bases.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical/Mechatronics) or Equivalent Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in Operations, Engineering, or related field
