At Magna, you can expect an engaging and dynamic environment where you can help to develop industry-leading automotive technologies. We invest in our employees, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. As a member of our global team, you can expect exciting, varied responsibilities as well as a wide range of development prospects.
About the Role
Magna Electronics is a premier supplier for the global automotive industry with full capabilities in design, development, testing and manufacturing of complex electronic systems. We drive innovation in smarter, cleaner, safer, and lighter automotive technology.
The System Tool Developer will design, develop, and maintain system test tools for autonomous and ADAS vehicle development, including data logger and reprocessing systems for camera, ultrasonic sensor, and radar data. The ideal candidate will build robust, scalable tools that enable efficient data collection, validation, and re-simulation across the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Excellent understanding of image and LiDAR-based annotation concepts, along with validation processes.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle-level reference sensor systems supporting ground truth, including installation, calibration, synchronization, and logging validation.
- Design, develop, and maintain data logger systems for in-vehicle recording of camera, ultrasonic sensor, radar, and vehicle bus data, ensuring data integrity and time synchronization.
- Design, develop, and maintain reprocessing (re-simulation) systems to replay recorded sensor data through perception and system software for validation and regression testing.
- Develop system test tools and frameworks supporting HIL/SIL testing, data validation, and automated test execution.
- Build and optimize data processing pipelines handling large-scale sensor data across formats (MDF4, CSV, ORC, MP4, Parquet).
- Design and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for data ingestion, storage, reprocessing, and retrieval (AWS or similar).
- Develop image processing components for sensor data visualization, quality checks, and analysis tooling.
- Design and maintain database schemas and services for test data management, metadata indexing, and efficient retrieval.
- Collaborate with data collection, annotation, sensor calibration, and software teams to align tooling with development and validation needs.
- Gather, analyze, and document tool requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure tool quality and reliability.
- Provide user support, documentation, and training for developed tools across global teams.
- Stay updated on industry best practices in test tooling, data logging, and cloud technologies.
- Monitor and track project progress against schedules.
- Ensure efficient use of resources and effective task prioritization.
- Contribute to process definition, safety standards, and validation methods.
- Anticipate project requirements and proactively support cross-functional teams.
