About the role

We are looking for a systematic, detail-orientated, and proactive Embedded Software Test Engineer who has an interest in medical devices and in trying to break them!

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual system-level, functional, and acceptance testing on embedded systems software (C) and supporting desktop software applications (C#/.NET).
  • Collaborate with members of R&D and Manufacturing, among other teams, to define and implement testing strategies.
  • Develop written verification test protocols, then subsequently document and report test results to both functional and customer requirements - in a manner consistent with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Analyze and test field failures to establish repeatability before working with the development team to address the root cause, and verify the correction before release.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software quality assurance experience.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in testing desktop tools and/or embedded systems/hardware.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc) and ability to troubleshoot electrical and firmware issues on circuits/hardware.
  • Very good understanding of QA principles and processes.
  • Pertinent to the medical device industry or other regulated environment (e.g., FAA, SEC, DoD, Title 21 CFR part 11), and the related verification, validation, and documentation requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, finding creative solutions as well as enjoying investigative and troubleshooting processes.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams, potentially leading testing efforts for a given project.
  • Effective written communication skills in presentation of methods and observations.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environment.
  • Work experience in a firmware or software development role.
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, C/C++, .NET/C#, MYSQL.
  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development and related use of unit testing approaches and tools (e.g., JUnit).

Benefits

Actual compensation may vary depending on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. Estimated Pay Range $115,000.00 - $149,000.00

The position is located in Orange County, CA, and the role is hybrid, requiring you to be in the office as needed to use hardware and electrical lab equipment.
