Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and design of complex electrical power systems for healthcare, higher education, research, corporate, government, and institutional facilities.
  • Design resilient electrical infrastructure solutions that support reliability, redundancy, emergency power, and business continuity objectives.
  • Create medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including utility coordination, substations, switchgear, and campus distribution infrastructure.
  • Design and evaluate campus-wide electrical distribution systems, including expansion planning, system resiliency, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
  • Lead the integration and evaluation of alternate energy technologies, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, combined heat and power (CHP), and other emerging energy solutions while working with the building performance team to design and integrate alternative energy sources into the electrical distribution to create sustainable designs.
  • Develop innovative electrical design solutions that address complex technical challenges while balancing performance, constructability, operational needs, and cost.
  • Perform electrical system analyses including short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, load flow, voltage drop, and reliability studies.
  • Apply expert knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, and energy codes, while coordinating with other discipline-specific requirements.
  • Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owner and design teams.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in electrical engineering or Associates degree in a related field.
