About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver the highest standards for safety, security, and seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be part of a global engineering team responsible for designing and innovating our rapidly expanding data center footprint. You will work on multi-million dollar designs, collaborate across disciplines, and drive continuous advancements to achieve world-class uptime for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design data center electrical systems and collaborate with other disciplines to create construction document sets.
  • Create designs that meet quality and budgetary requirements.
  • Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
  • Review and approve equipment submittals.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support during construction phases.
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
  • Travel to sites for reviews, audits, and startup support (up to 20% travel).
  • Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in electrical engineering, supporting construction from site selection through commissioning and turnover.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with critical data center/mission-critical mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in data center/mission-critical design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
  • Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods.
  • Capability to define critical equipment specifications and approve submittals.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external groups (utilities, manufacturers, vendors, contractors).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of direct data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
  • Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations.

Pay

Base salary ranges by location:

  • USA, GA, Atlanta: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, OH, Columbus: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, TX, Austin: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, VA, Herndon: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
