Sr. Electrical Engineer

We’re seeking a Sr. Electrical Professional Engineer to utilize design expertise on complex water and wastewater utility projects, focusing on electrical distribution systems for treatment-related facilities.

You’ll lead the generation and review of electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals, ensuring strong client relationships. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to both internal and external business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities, including low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries.
• Lead electrical engineering tasks from planning studies to final design, preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles, best practices, codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA), and guidelines.
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while ensuring quality control and assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Demonstrate competency in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.
• Conduct field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, change order reviews, and preparation of record drawings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple office locations.
• Develop basis of design reports and technical memorandums.
• Mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to be licensed in multiple states (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
• Substantial years of experience in professional design of electrical systems for water projects.
• Low- and medium-voltage power distribution experience.
• Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA requirements.
• Hands-on knowledge of electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options.
• Electrical system testing and commissioning experience.
• Proficiency with NFPA 820 requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Instrumentation and Control system design experience.
• Experience with LEED certification or similar sustainability initiatives.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $120,400.00 to $190,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
