Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering aspects.
- Lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes.
- Provide recommendations to resolve technical issues and ensure complex project requirements are met.
- Apply knowledge of NEC code, ANSI/IEEE, and other industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively within teams and across disciplines.
- Use electrical system design tools such as ETAP, SKM, MicroStation, SP3D, Revit, AutoCAD 2D/3D, and electronic Cable Management Systems.
- Perform system studies including load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, harmonic study, grounding study, cable thermal analysis, and cable sizing for equipment sizing, protection, coordination, and relay settings.
- Design overall single line diagrams, metering and protection single line diagrams, schematics, connection diagrams, MCC schedules, panel schedules, cable schedules, and substation layout drawings.
- Design medium voltage systems (34.5kV / 13.8kV / 4.160kV) and low voltage systems (480V and 208/120V), including switchgear, MCCs, switchboards, distribution boards, and lighting panel design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Professional Registration License (P.E.) in Electrical Engineering (Power).
- Knowledge and application of NEC code, ANSI/IEEE, and other industry standards.
- Experience with electrical system design tools such as ETAP, SKM, MicroStation, SP3D, Revit, AutoCAD 2D/3D, and electronic Cable Management Systems.
- Experience in performing system studies (load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, harmonic study, grounding study, cable thermal analysis, and cable sizing).
- Experience designing single line diagrams, schematics, connection diagrams, MCC schedules, panel schedules, cable schedules, and substation layout drawings.
- Knowledge of medium voltage systems (34.5kV / 13.8kV / 4.160kV) and low voltage systems (480V and 208/120V), including switchgear, MCCs, switchboards, distribution boards, and lighting panel design.
