About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges, guiding customers as they refactor applications or design entirely new cloud-based systems.

Within the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO), this position is part of the Worldwide Specialist Team, where you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designing In-Memory architectures leveraging AWS services. You will work closely with the Database Services team, Business Development, and Sales to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive the adoption and revenue of AWS. You will collaborate with the world’s largest companies to design flexible and cost-effective cloud-based solutions, develop whitepapers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations, and create field enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect population.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain-aligned go-to-market (GTM) teams to unblock customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
  • Act as a thought leader by sharing best practices through AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent.
  • Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best-in-class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide.
  • Create field enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect population to help them understand how to integrate AWS caching services into customer architectures.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic leader with technical expertise in In-Memory/NoSQL database systems, providing recommendations around security, cost, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency to accelerate building key data solutions on AWS.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.
  • Experience developing software code in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent, or 6+ years of technical work experience.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, hardware, storage, network, security, database administration, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams across geographies and business units.
  • Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • 5+ years of design and implementation experience with NoSQL technologies and key-value stores such as ElastiCache, Aerospike, Redis, and Memcached, including NoSQL data modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
  • AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification.
  • History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises.
  • Deep knowledge of and experience with Redis.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database-related services, particularly Amazon Aurora, Lambda, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon OpenSearch, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Amazon EC2 Container Service, and Amazon Kinesis.

  • USA, CA, San Francisco: $176,600.00 - $239,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, NY, New York: $169,000.00 - $228,600.00 USD annually
  • USA, VA, Arlington: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually
