About the role
Wyman Gordon Company operates one of the most modern vertically integrated forging facilities in the world and is a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC). We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to drive EHS excellence within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Directs and supports the Wyman Gordon EHS program and serves as the site leader for all EHS initiatives.
- Maintains a strong daily presence in production, maintenance, and support areas, actively engaging employees and supervisors to identify hazards and improve EHS performance.
- Serves as a visible safety leader who leads by example and promotes employee ownership of safety at all organizational levels.
- Drives EHS culture transformation initiatives focused on engagement, accountability, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Identifies, assesses, and mitigates operational risks associated with forging, heat treating, maintenance, material handling, and other manufacturing activities.
- Conducts frequent floor-based inspections, audits, risk assessments, behavioral observations, and employee interactions to identify hazards and drive timely corrective actions.
- Owns the incident management process including response, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action development, closure verification, and trend analysis.
- Partners with supervisors and managers to strengthen ownership and accountability for EHS performance within their departments.
- Provides coaching and field support to frontline leadership on hazard recognition, risk reduction, employee engagement, and incident prevention.
- Uses leading and lagging indicators to identify trends, prioritize resources, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develops and communicates EHS performance metrics and drives accountability for results and corrective action completion.
- Develops and implements environmental programs and policies in compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.
- Manages environmental-related legal matters, agency interactions, permitting activities, and enforcement actions.
- Captures and coordinates facility emergency response and evacuation programs, including drills and emergency preparedness activities.
- Provides 24-hour on-call support for medical and environmental emergencies as required.
- Continuously evaluates manufacturing operations and capital projects to identify high-risk activities and implement practical risk reduction solutions.
- Supports lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring EHS principles are integrated into operational changes and Kaizen activities.
- Works closely with corporate EHS, production, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure EHS requirements are effectively integrated into operations.
- Leads and develops the quarterly Safety and 6S management overview report.
- Manages workers compensation processes and claims.
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field required.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible EHS leadership experience in heavy manufacturing, forging, metals, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or similarly complex manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success driving EHS culture improvement, injury reduction, and risk mitigation initiatives in fast-paced manufacturing operations.
- Experience leading incident investigations utilizing formal root cause analysis methodologies.
- Professional knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state regulatory requirements.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, permitting, agency interactions, and compliance management.
- Experience developing and delivering effective EHS training programs.
- Certifications such as CSP, CSHM, CSMP, CHMM, or CESB strongly preferred.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Experience supporting high-risk manufacturing processes including forging operations, heat treatment, cranes, powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, contractor safety, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.

- Solid understanding of EHS and risk management principles with the ability to apply them in a manufacturing environment.
