Sr. Display Engineer
About the role
As a Senior Display Engineer, you will design, characterize, and validate the optical and electrical performance of OLED displays by collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors. You will define performance specifications, manage supplier relationships, design test protocols, analyze results, and troubleshoot issues throughout the product development lifecycle. International travel is required (10–15% of the time).
You will work closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers on innovative consumer products, tackling novel challenges and solving problems at scale. The role involves hands-on work, real-time manufacturing and validation, and collaboration with multiple technical teams across Amazon locations.
Responsibilities
- Design and define the electro-optical architecture and performance specifications for OLED displays.
- Design and execute test plans to characterize and validate display performance, analyze results, and identify root causes for issues.
- Investigate and resolve complex process issues using techniques like failure analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
- Use and expand optoelectronic models and simulation tools, contributing to the development and refinement of manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in display engineering, electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field with +5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Expertise in OLED device physics, optoelectronics, materials, or process.
- 5+ years of experience and a proven track record in the development of OLED displays, including materials, processes, manufacturing, simulation, equipment, and methodology.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in display engineering, electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field with +5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Technical knowledge in OLED evaporation, encapsulation, color filter process/material, and cell process/material.
- Familiarity with display simulation tools and measurement equipment.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar.
- Proven track record in product development from ideation to commercialization in the display industry.
- Expertise in the electrical and optical design and validation of optoelectronic devices, particularly OLEDs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
- Experience with process modeling, failure analysis, and working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and partner with people at all levels of an organization.
Pay
Base salary range: $157,900 – $213,600 USD annually (Sunnyvale, CA). Additional compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
