Sr. Director, Technical Program Management (Remote-Eligible)
About the role
Leading programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategy and execution of large-scale, technically complex, cross-functional programs aligned with Capital One’s business priorities.
- Break down complexity and organizational silos, influence roadmaps, dive deep into system design and architecture, make technical tradeoffs, drive platform consolidation, and identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.
- Build and lead a world-class team of technical program managers with a mission to power real-time, intelligent experiences for our customers and associates.
- Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership by providing valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology-based decisions.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Drive execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
- Work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 9+ years of experience managing technical programs
- Preferred: 9+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing, 5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture - preferably using AWS, 5+ years of experience building & leading experienced TPM team, 5+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms, 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery

- Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services)
- The ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
- A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
- Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
- Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done
- Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seeded empathy for teams and partners
Skills
- Technical acumen and engineering experience
- Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives

New York, NY: $294,100 - $335,700 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management
