Sr. Director Software Engineering
Capital One Senior Director of Software Engineering role spanning customer-facing web and mobile applications, highly-available RESTful microservices, and back-end Java-based Big Data systems. Technologies include Node.js, Java, Go, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL/relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers
- Collaborate with product managers to define application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack within Agile teams
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
- Stay current with tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor engineering community members
- Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, teamwork, and diversity
- Improve team velocity across engineering groups
- Lead AWS deployments for new and existing applications
- Break monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 9 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 7 years of experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- 13+ years of experience in software engineering
- 8+ years of experience in Agile practices
- Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity beyond basic code completion
Pay
Full-time annual salary ranges by location:
- Richmond, VA: $286,200 - $326,700
Candidates in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with their location. Part-time salaries are prorated. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
