Sr. Director, Project Sourcing

Overview

Cypress Creek Energy (CCE) is seeking a seasoned project originator, developer, and team leader for a Senior Director role on the Project Sourcing team. The Senior Director will lead and execute initiatives to grow CCE’s project pipeline through addition of powered land for data centers, and solar and BESS projects for CCE’s hyperscale and utility partners. This player/coach role combines hands‑on project execution with mentoring a team, collaborating across Revenue, EPCM, Policy, Structured Finance, and other subject‑matter experts to build a diversified, multi‑technology pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Sourcing and CCE partner teams and companies to shape and execute project and pipeline formation and structuring strategies.
• Provide expertise in early‑ and late‑stage development requirements for powered land for large loads, with demonstrated experience in solar and BESS projects; experience with natural‑gas‑fired generation and gas infrastructure is preferred.
• Coordinate with subject‑matter‑expert teams—including Revenue, EPCM, Policy, Structured Finance, and others—to determine strategy conformance, project viability, and related criteria.
• Lead, mentor, and support a team as a player/coach in project origination and development work, with a willingness to get hands‑on.
• Manage individual and corporate land agents and apply a suite of existing and new options for each campaign.
• Negotiate ground lease and purchase agreements, leveraging direct field experience.
• Apply expertise in transmission interconnection procedures, risks, and opportunities to identify grid “sweet spots” with optimal points of interconnection.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills across all areas of project origination and development.
• Maintain intimate knowledge of local and state policy and permitting risks, guiding projects through land‑use, tax‑abatement, and other approvals.
• Evaluate and apply cutting‑edge GIS and development‑tracking platforms that integrate AI where appropriate.

Education & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in energy project development and site acquisition.
• Ability to travel 25–50% of the time, depending on campaign needs.
• Team leadership experience.
• Strong work ethic and ability to self‑start in a fast‑paced environment.

• Excellent organization, communication, and attention‑to‑detail.
• Strong internal and external negotiation and influencing skills.

Location

Preferred office locations: Asheville, NC; Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; or San Francisco, CA. The team operates on a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office, and remote work is also an option.

Compensation

Salary range starts at $240,000 plus, with eligibility for an annual bonus. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
