Sr. Director, Field Reimbursement

About the role

This is a critical field-based Market Access role leading a team of field-based reimbursement managers who will work directly with treatment centers to educate on appropriate reimbursement dynamics for AMT-130 and the associated stereotactic, surgical administration procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify coverage, coding and payment issues and lead cross-functional solutions to optimize patient access
  • Ensure the response to external customer questions, educational needs and issues is executed with the highest sense of urgency
  • Collaborate with other field-team leaders to ensure a highly coordinated and efficient "Ways of Working" model in the field
  • Work closely with many other cross-functional colleagues to drive excellence in patient access, drive business objectives, and embody a philosophy of continuous improvement
  • Design, develop and implement Go to Market plans for field-based reimbursement specialists that will drive superior business results
  • Build and maintain deep, trusted relationships with key HCP customers (including but not limited to MDs, mid-levels, social workers, clinical pharmacy staff, administrators and financial leaders) at organizations preparing to treat/treating patients with AMT-130
  • Maintain a deep understanding of payer landscapes, competitive dynamics, and evolving healthcare policies to inform business strategies
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, legislative changes, competitive intelligence, proactively making recommendations to adapt uniQure’s field reimbursement strategy and tactics
  • Drive functional area insights and recommendations to commercial leadership, influencing company’s commercial strategy
  • Partner with Account Management, Patient Support Services & Distribution, Training and other areas of leadership to support appropriate utilization and maximize market opportunity for uniQure’s commercial products
  • Success in building, managing, and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong commercialization and launch experience with cell and gene therapy or high cost buy and bill/medical benefit products
  • Experience with surgically administered therapeutics a plus
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of US healthcare reimbursement, pricing strategies, formulary dynamics, and access pathways
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with proven ability to influence top clinical and business decision makers
  • Thorough knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks for promotion and specifically field reimbursement operating norms
  • Business maturity and with exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to travel ~50% of the time

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in life sciences, finance/accounting or closely related field and 12+ years of medical life science industry experience
  • 15+ years of previous experience within biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Highly preferred experience in high-cost rare disease / gene therapy management role
  • Proven track record of recent launch experience in the last 3 years
  • Success in building, managing, and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong commercialization and launch experience with cell and gene therapy or high cost buy and bill/medical benefit products
  • Experience with surgically administered therapeutics a plus
