About the role

McKesson's Corporate Strategy and Business Development (CSBD) department is seeking a Senior Director for its Enterprise Strategy & CSBD Operations team. This role supports enterprise leadership in planning, delivering, and implementing high-priority strategic projects that advance McKesson's competitive position and contribute to the purpose of Advancing Health Outcomes for All®. The Senior Director will work with business leaders to develop strategies aligned with enterprise priorities and partner across CSBD and other functional teams. This highly visible role involves analyzing external business environments, anticipating industry trends, influencing strategy, and recommending growth opportunities. The position manages two senior managers, ensuring operational excellence, execution of high-impact initiatives, and talent development, and reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy and CSBD Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage multiple complex strategic projects and initiatives, including high-quality deliverables and detailed work plans with timelines, incubation, hypothesis development, and execution.
  • Create analytical frameworks and conduct complex business analyses on narrow timelines, ensuring broader strategic considerations are incorporated.
  • Build expertise and insights about industry trends and their potential implications for McKesson.
  • Manage relationships with key leaders and project stakeholders, leading, influencing, and reaching consensus with or without formal authority.
  • Monitor and synthesize industry developments, market research, competitive intelligence, and emerging risks and opportunities to inform enterprise strategy.
  • Develop robust, actionable insights to inform strategies, priorities, and key decisions.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the company's business lines, products, and services, developing subject matter expertise in multiple areas.
  • Apply strategic and analytical thinking to synthesize market data and deliver business insights.
  • Lead workstreams end-to-end and ensure high-quality output across the team's deliverables.
  • Partner with the SVP, Enterprise Strategy and CSBD Operations to drive the annual strategic planning process and support strategic updates to the C-suite and Board of Directors.
  • Leverage presentations to develop narratives, storylines, and points of view, influencing and driving conviction among key McKesson executive leaders.
  • Facilitate business problem-solving within established frameworks and present hypotheses and recommendations to senior management.
  • Work through ambiguity, structuring problems/tasks with limited guidance.
  • Act as a thought leader and lead advisor.
  • Make project-specific resource allocation decisions.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor direct reports, building a strong leadership bench and fostering a culture of analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and professional growth.

Requirements

  • 13+ years of prior strategy consulting, healthcare consulting, innovation consulting, corporate strategy, startup, and/or relevant industry experience, with 6+ years of diversified leadership experience.
  • Prior experience in healthcare required.
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including direct supervision, coaching, and development of team members.
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • MBA or other relevant master's degree preferred.

  • Communications Skills: Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas, and present complex information in an easy-to-understand, persuasive manner.

Pay

McKesson offers a competitive compensation package determined by performance, experience, skills, equity, and geographical markets. The base pay range for this position is $182,000 - $303,300. In addition to base pay, other compensation such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
