Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the electrical engineering strategy for next-generation active implantable medical device platforms
  • Drive the design, development, and testing of complex bioelectronic systems comprised of PCB design, stimulation, power management, wireless communication, and sensing technologies
  • Serve as a thought leader in cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, and biomedical engineering teams, with the goal of reviewing designs, guiding tradeoff decisions, and solving critical problems
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and quality management systems
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers across multiple product development activities
  • Balance strategic oversight with real-time support and mentorship, especially on high-risk or high-impact technical challenges
  • Encourage a culture of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and continuous learning
  • Prioritize team member development and career advancement
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide career guidance, and support continuing education initiatives
  • Work with R&D leadership to define technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, and Manufacturing teams throughout product lifecycle
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and methodologies
  • Serve as a key engineering voice at the executive table, partnering closely with the C-Suite on technology strategy, organizational growth, and long-term platform vision
  • Translate mission-driven objectives into clear electrical engineering roadmaps that balance innovation, quality, risk, and speed

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred, Minimum 15 years of progressive electrical engineering experience in medical device development or similar technological, regulated environments, Minimum 7+ years of direct people management experience with demonstrated leadership success
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated success delivering complex products from concept-to-completion with on-time product development cycles, Deep understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power management, and RF/Wireless technologies, Proficiency in EMC/EMI design considerations, Knowledge of medical device regulations (such as FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 14708, ISO 13485, IEC 60601), Familiarity with design controls, risk management (ISO 14971), and verification/validation processes
  • Leadership Competencies: Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner, Proven ability to build high-performing teams and foster a collaborative culture, Contribute towards and inspire the team to create novel therapy solutions and perform Intellectual Property filing, Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure, Experience and passion for mentoring and developing early-career engineers
