Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop all staff involved with benefits and compensation, including the HRIS system, fostering a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
  • Continually evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of Road Scholar's benefit programs, practices, and procedures, including but not limited to health & welfare programs, retirement plans, time off programs, and other perquisites, in relation to Road Scholar's strategic objectives; and, in terms of perceived benefit to employees, cost, legislative requirements, organizational culture, and the retention and recruitment of talent.
  • Deliver the highest quality of service to Road Scholar employees by providing responsive service, escalated problem solving, and ensuring follow-through on benefits issues.
  • Act as executive sponsor for significant implementations including the HRIS and Payroll systems and are a trusted advisor to the senior management team, including the CEO, in developing human resource.
  • Manage all renewals and annual open enrollment.
  • Conduct/Facilitate employee satisfaction surveys, workshops, and trainings.
  • Work with Senior Leadership to ensure they understand the executive benefits programs are understood and utilized.
  • Continually evaluate, lead, and direct the effectiveness of Road Scholar’s compensation programs.
  • Develop, propose, and implement variable pay programs designed to place greater emphasis on the link between performance and pay.
  • Design, propose, and implement effective communication and education strategies for management and employees regarding total compensation and benefits.
  • Conduct annual market pay analysis, develop market ranges, and present findings, observations, and conclusions to Senior management as required.
  • Plan, develop, execute the administration of a wide variety of employee compensation programs including base pay, merit, incentive, and equity in an assigned geography or functional unit.
  • Participate in project assignments which may include analysis of competitive pay practices, economic trends, current market position, cost impact analysis, system enhancements.
  • Ensure that Road Scholar maintains equity internally, and is externally competitive with wages and salaries.
  • Advise senior management regarding the development of compensation budgets, strategic plans, and annual merit matrices.
  • Prepare Board Committee materials and participate in Board meetings in support of Executive compensation programs as required.
  • Collaborate with the senior managers in stewarding the annual merit process in alignment with the annual performance management cycle.
  • Ensure accurate, current job descriptions exist to support the organization's compensation structure and talent acquisition activities while assessing the roles fit within the organizational structure.
  • Develop and deliver employee communications and training related to compensation programs, policies, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental record-keeping and reporting requirements for compensation programs.
  • Perform other related and unrelated responsibilities, as needed to support the Human Resources function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or other related field required.
  • 10+ years Human Resources management experience, specifically overseeing compensation and/or benefit plan design and administration. Experience leading both disciplines for multiple years required.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) strongly preferred. PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with benefit programs, brokers and vendors for health, dental, life and AD&D insurance, 403(b) and COBRA is essential.
  • Proven organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills necessary.
  • Extensive experience managing a team of subordinate managers in the various disciplines in which responsible.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication (writing, editing, verbal, and presentation) skills necessary.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven skill with Microsoft Office, Excel and HRIS systems a must.
  • Experience conducting new hire orientation preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (collaboration, advanced problem-solving orientation and decision making, teamwork) with ability to maintain high level of professionalism and strict confidentiality.

Pay

The compensation range for this exempt level salaried position is $136,000 - $180,000 based on experience.
