Sr. Dir, Listed Real Assets Senior Analyst - Midstream Energy and Utilities

Nuveen Equities and Fixed Income (NEFI) is seeking a Senior Analyst to cover midstream energy and utility publicly traded securities for their Listed Real Assets (LRA) group. The successful candidate will be an experienced, energetic and contributing member of a highly successful group of investment professionals.

About the role

The Senior Analyst will conduct independent research on publicly traded pipeline and utility securities, analyze financial documents, and perform industry and competitor analysis. Working independently under limited supervision, the analyst will build a relative valuation framework and make security and sector recommendations to portfolio managers.

Responsibilities

  • Produces and reviews research-driven written and oral reports regarding real asset market competitive analysis incorporating quantitative and qualitative elements.
  • Develops proprietary, high conviction points of view on future earnings and cash flows relative to consensus and company guidance expectations.
  • Conveys recommendations of complex products within the energy market to the portfolio management teams through presentations and investment reports.
  • Attends national industry conferences, meets with company management, and analyzes changes in supply and demand patterns for the energy industry.
  • Reviews well-developed, empirically based research models for use in relevant disciplines as directed.
  • Collaborates with global team on improvements to research and development procedures and techniques with the teams responsible for real asset research.
  • Stays current on public and private energy markets including upstream and downstream.
  • Researches portfolio risks and selects real assets that serve as a hedge against rising inflation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pipeline/energy/utility research and financial statement analysis with experience in a relative valuation framework (7+ years preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA designation, or advanced degree a plus.
  • Sound quantitative, analytical, critical thinking, and financial modeling abilities.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Bloomberg.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $170,000/yr - $287,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
