About the role

This is an onsite position at our Irvine, CA office. The Sr Designer, Printed Wiring Board (PWB) designs, develops, and documents complex printed wiring board layouts supporting Masimo's medical device technologies. This role partners cross-functionally with Engineering teams to deliver high-performance, manufacturable electronic hardware from concept through production while serving as a technical resource for PCB design standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex multilayer printed wiring board layouts supporting new product development and sustaining engineering.
  • Optimize board designs for electrical performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and product quality.
  • Partner with Engineering teams throughout design, validation, and production.
  • Develop and maintain PCB design documentation, engineering releases, and manufacturing deliverables.
  • Support prototype builds, design verification, engineering changes, and production transfers.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Test (DFT), and applicable IPC standards throughout product development.
  • Drive continuous improvement through design reviews, root cause investigations, CAD standards, and supplier collaboration.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of printed wiring board (PCB/PWB) design experience in a product development environment.
  • Proficiency with PCB CAD tools (e.g., PADS, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent).
  • Experience designing multilayer, high-density, and mixed-signal circuit boards.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards, PCB manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries (preferred).
  • Experience with rigid-flex PCB design, HDI technologies, and high-speed digital layouts (preferred).
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI, and mechanical integration (preferred).
  • Experience with database maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring technical staff and supporting engineering process improvements (preferred).

Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and written instructions.
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate with cross-functional team members.

All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.

Pay

The anticipated range for this position is $93,000 - $125,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 10% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Primarily works in a laboratory environment.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.
  • May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.
