About the role
Moog Western New York Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by an increase in new design and development. This has been bolstered by recent high profile defense contract awards with strategic customers and subsequent internal investments in IR&D and business capture opportunities. We are looking for an experienced design engineer to add to our growing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design effort for applications including missile steering actuation systems, critical positioning systems.
- Prior knowledge and competency in the area of servomechanism, servo valves and control are preferred.
- Apply your expertise in design for manufacturing.
- Work with peer engineers and technicians to inform the design for manufacturability.
- Support the detailed analyses for our products including CAD layout, GD&T tolerance analysis, dynamic, structural and thermal analysis capability and understanding.
- Direct other engineers to generate conceptual designs/drawings, and/or conduct that work individually.
- Ensure drawings are complete and accurate which could include using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) methodologies to meet design, manufacturing and inspection requirements.
- Apply Moog standard products to meet new mission requirements.
- Work in Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD application.
- Present your work to colleagues and to customers.
- Mentor and coach other design engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
- Can understand new technical concepts and products. Utilize these skills to understand risks and take appropriate action.
- Practical knowledge and/or experience with technical drawing practices and GD&T standards.
- 3D CAD modeling experience.
