You will work on database architecture, performance tuning, production reliability, and operational improvements that directly impact business-critical workflows. This position combines deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration across engineering, infrastructure, and data teams. You will contribute to improving data accessibility, application performance, and system stability in a fast-moving technology environment. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex database challenges, improving processes, and building reliable solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a PostgreSQL and AWS Aurora subject-matter expert, providing guidance on database architecture, performance, and best practices.
  • Manage and optimize large relational databases with complex schemas, high-volume operational data, and extensive historical records.
  • Review database changes, migrations, and schema updates to ensure performance, security, scalability, and operational safety.
  • Investigate and resolve production database issues, including slow queries, blocking transactions, lock contention, replication challenges, and performance regressions.
  • Improve SQL performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and database tuning.
  • Automate recurring database maintenance activities, monitoring processes, cleanup routines, and operational workflows.
  • Support backup, restore, staging, release, and database refresh processes in partnership with infrastructure teams.
