Sr. Data Engineer

About the role

The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting a robust Data Analytics and Business Intelligence platform designed to provide actionable insights to federal customers. This position offers exposure to a wide array of technologies and challenges, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data pipelines to manage and provision data to consumers
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum teams, adhering to best practices
• Implement and automate continuous data ingestion processes
• Ensure technical excellence through adherence to lean-agile engineering principles and practices
• Collaborate with program management and engineers to implement and document complex requirements
• Cultivate an environment that prioritizes customer service, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen
• Public Trust clearance required
• 7+ years of IT experience, including design, management, and solutioning of large, complex data sets and models
• Experience with developing data pipelines from various sources, including structured and unstructured data sets
• Proficiency in ETL processes, test/validation, and data manipulation using Python, R, SQL, SAS
• Strong understanding of big data analysis and storage tools and technologies
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Comfortable working in version control systems like Git

Desired Qualifications

• Experience creating and consuming APIs
• Knowledge of DHS standards a plus
• Experience with Python
• Experience with Tableau or PowerBI for visualizations
• Experience with Shell scripts on Linux
• Experience translating business and technical requirements into comprehensive data strategies and analytic solutions
• Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and with non-technical audiences
