Sr. Data Analyst
About the role
Carroll University seeks a Senior Data Analyst to advance institutional data analytics, reporting, and decision-support capabilities. This strategic and technical role partners with academic and administrative departments to analyze data, develop actionable insights, improve data quality, and support data-informed decision-making. The Senior Data Analyst designs enterprise reporting solutions, dashboards, data models, and analytics frameworks while helping establish data governance standards and best practices. This position bridges business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure institutional data is accurate, accessible, secure, and aligned with strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for academic and administrative departments.
- Translate complex business requirements into meaningful analytics and reporting solutions.
- Support institutional data governance initiatives, including data quality, integrity, stewardship, and standardization efforts.
- Partner with stakeholders to establish consistent reporting definitions, business rules, and data standards.
- Assist in maintaining enterprise data models, data dictionaries, and metadata documentation.
- Promote responsible and secure use of institutional data in alignment with compliance and privacy requirements.
- Assist departments seeking to improve operational effectiveness through data insights.
- Assist with prioritizing analytics initiatives.
- Work with enterprise systems including ERP/SIS, CRM, HRIS, LMS, and other institutional applications to support data integration and reporting.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, data pipelines, and automated reporting processes.
- Support analytics and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, or similar tools.
- Assist in evaluating emerging analytics, AI, and data technologies that improve institutional effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, and data accessibility.
- Participate in cross-functional IT and institutional projects related to data, reporting, and process improvement.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, institutional research, or related analytics roles. Experience working in higher education environments is desired.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience with SQL and relational databases. Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools. Experience working with enterprise applications such as ERP, SIS, CRM, or HRIS systems. Familiarity with Ellucian, Anthology, Workday, Salesforce, or similar higher education platforms. Experience with data warehousing, ETL/integration processes, or cloud analytics platforms. Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and privacy practices. Exposure to predictive analytics, AI, or machine learning concepts.

Schedule
This position has a hybrid work arrangement—3 days in office, 2 days remote.
