Sr Counsel

About the role

Provides legal counsel and advice to the corporation and its subsidiaries to ensure their effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on an assigned basis to members of management & various departments concerning areas of expertise.
• Oversee & evaluate the performance and progress of outside counsel representing the company in department specific matters.
• Evaluate, determine & coordinate appropriate action / position / response to be taken by the company.
• Act on behalf of the company and participate in negotiations and drafting of legal documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris doctorate degree and admission to the bar.
• Ten (10) years experience as an attorney with at least three (3) years experience in job specific area of law required.

Qualifications

• Strong negotiation, human relations and communications skills.
• Preferred qualifications include providing critical legal support for regulatory matters, with strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and technology skills.
• Experience in transportation and regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, citations, and NOVs.
• Expertise in U.S. or Canadian customs, highway safety, industrial hygiene, and/or OSHA.
• Ability to review sampling data, communicate with SMEs and leaders, ensure compliance, and apply knowledge of federal/state regulations, Power BI, and AI platforms.

• Memphis: $13,169.66/mo - $23,046.90/mo
• Pittsburgh: $13,862.80/mo - $24,259.90/mo
