Sr. Cost Accountant & Analyst - Valencia/Ventura

Position Summary

The Sr. Cost Accountant & Analyst is responsible for accurately accounting of inventory under standard costing, calculation of product cost and variances, preparation and analysis of production margins, assisting with month-end close, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with the audit preparation and requests, performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Accounting

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for products and manufacturing processes.
• Calculate product costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead, purchase price, and production variances).
• Prepare monthly cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Inventory Accounting

• Maintain accurate inventory costing within the ERP system.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Participate in physical inventories and cycle count programs.
• Analyze inventory reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, and inventory valuation.
• Ensure compliance with inventory accounting policies and internal controls.

• Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
• Aid in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Develop dashboards and reports that provide insight into manufacturing performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of cost account experience with manufacturing is required.
• Public company and SOX experience.
• ERP experience: JD Edwards, D365 or other similar ERP systems.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and ERPs.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work output.
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
