About the role

The first job of a copywriter is to have ideas, to see the world in a new way, and to share that unique vision with consumers in a way that they immediately understand. The title (Senior Copywriter or Copywriter) will depend on the candidate’s experience level. This role requires the ability to devise original, strategically sound, and persuasive copy that aligns with client-approved direction, working with art resources where appropriate. The ideal candidate will provide inspiration and leadership for the entire Creative Department and serve as a trusted consultant on any matters of language within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Attends briefing sessions and discusses Brand, Selling Strategy, and the purpose of the brief with the appropriate members of the brand/project management teams.
  • Reviews incoming job starts, creative briefs, and other forms of project initiation to ensure the team has all necessary information and sufficient time to deliver the best creative solution for each client assignment.
  • Challenges preconceptions and proposes alternative approaches or solutions where these will more effectively achieve the objectives identified in the brief.
  • Works with an Art Director, the Creative Director (or alone, if necessary) to create appropriate concepts.
  • On approval of concept by the account team and client, prepares full copy.
  • Takes responsibility for initial spell-checking and amendments to own copy in light of clients’ comments.
  • Provides writing support and expertise across a wide variety of media, including write-ups of creative concepts for presentation to clients and internal teams.
  • Fosters a team environment that facilitates the development of strategic and conceptual thinking, mutual respect, and teamwork among creative team members and throughout the agency.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with all team members and understands the roles and responsibilities of other agency teams (including Strategic Planning, Digital, and Account Management).
  • Ensures professional presentation of concepts and maintains effective communication with all relevant internal and external contacts.
  • Stays abreast of competitor creative work and market developments relevant to client accounts.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the client’s business as well as their competitors.
  • Solicits the right information upfront to deliver a better product the first time and provides pertinent information to team members on a timely basis.
  • Manages own time and output in line with deadlines and budgetary requirements.
  • Collaborates with other agency departments to identify potential award-winning campaigns.
  • Submits a daily timesheet detailing work execution.
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with internal team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Demonstrates a proven ability to ‘sell’ creative concepts to clients and agency staff.
  • Acts as a valuable contributor to the client team with strategic thinking and action.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience within digital marketing or a comparable industry.
  • Portfolio is required to demonstrate creative skills.
  • Demonstrated judgment and imagination in creating advertisements.
  • Experience with online content (websites, email, OLA, etc.).
  • Experience with print pieces is a plus.
  • Experience in emerging platforms (mobile, tablets, etc.) is a plus.
  • Motivated, self-starter with an action-oriented and can-do attitude.
  • Capable of juggling multiple projects, sticking to deadlines, and ensuring high-quality, error-free output.

Schedule

Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
