Apply now for immediate consideration.Job DescriptionThe Senior Project Engineer will lead the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on pump stations, hydraulic systems, water/wastewater conveyance, and treatment infrastructure.This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging projects from concept through construction while working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to mentor developing engineers and contribute to project proposals, client relationships, and business growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of water booster stations and wastewater pump stations, including hydraulic calculations and equipment selection.Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis to evaluate system performance and optimize designs.Develop engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, construction documents, technical reports, and permit applications.Perform pipe design calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure classes, external loads, trench design, and joint selection.Support sewer conveyance projects, including pipeline and manhole rehabilitation.Conduct site visits and field inspections to evaluate existing conditions and monitor construction activities.Provide construction-phase engineering support, including contractor coordination, field observation, testing, and compliance with plans and specifications.Coordinate with structural, electrical, geotechnical, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated designs.Manage project budgets, schedules, technical deliverables, and client communications.Coordinate equipment startup, controls integration, system testing, and operational troubleshooting.Support water and wastewater storage and treatment projects.Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices in hydraulic and water infrastructure engineering.Mentor mid-level engineers, entry-level engineers, and interns.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Professional Engineer (PE) license required.10+ years of progressive engineering experience focused on water and wastewater infrastructure.Strong experience designing pump stations and hydraulic systems.Experience with hydraulic modeling and analysis.Experience with water and wastewater storage and treatment systems.Strong understanding of pumps, valves, piping, controls, and related pump station equipment.Experience with water/wastewater conveyance and pipeline infrastructure.Experience with pipe design calculations, including sizing, pressure class, external loads, trench design, and pipe joint selection.Experience with sewer conveyance design and pipeline/manhole rehabilitation.Proficiency with AutoCAD and relevant engineering/design software.Experience with construction-phase engineering, field inspections, and contractor coordination.Understanding of project management principles, including budgets and schedules.Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.The Planet Group is a global professional services firm delivering strategic staffing and advisory solutions.
