About the role
This position is responsible for designing, developing, and programming controls and automation systems for power generation, utility, and microgrid applications. The role involves integrating electrical systems and industrial communication systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation of diesel generators and distributed energy assets.
Responsibilities
- Be the architect for control system platforms
- Leverage global knowledge base to support R&D developments and customized deployments
- Design interfaces between various proprietary hardware (ECU’s, Gen control panels, PLC’s, HMI’s)
- Develop special customer applications with MTU controls system
- Design controls system for R&D programs
- Interface electrical and mechanical applications and systems with the MTU controls system
- Work directly with controls and governor manufacturers to improve functionality and mitigate issues
- Specify, design, validate, and maintain MTU control systems
- Hardware responsibilities: voltage regulators, control panels, engine ECUs, PLC’s, and other protective relays
- Work within a global electrical engineering organization and coordinate with global teams in respective projects
- Aid all areas of the company with controls-related issues
- Devise strategic plans for problem resolutions using facts and gathered data
- Involvement in development and validation of special customer projects and as required
Requirements
- Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years of experience in genset manufacturing or similar industry; or 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience in programming using PLC and structured text programming, scripted languages, Boolean/digital logic, etc.
- Experience using device communication such as TCP-IP, Modbus, OPC UA, and CAN bus
Qualifications
- Basic requirements for applicants include authorization to work in the U.S., a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and relevant experience.

$98,566 - $160,169 Annually
