About the role
Join ProMach and contribute your analytical and problem-solving skills to design comprehensive electrical controls systems for automated production lines in the packaging industry. This role involves aiding in the overall design of control panels, field devices, schematics detailing, and programming PLC, HMI, and servos in accordance with industry and client guidelines. The position reports to the Controls Engineering Manager and is located in our Greenville, SC office.
Responsibilities
- Manage all engineering activities within a project: design, standards, procedures, implementation, and testing
- Develop electrical field installation scopes of work
- Detail electrical schematics, process flow diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams, and field wiring pull schedules in accordance with NEC, NFPA, and UL specifications
- Specify and develop component bills of materials, solicit vendor quotations, and order components with purchasing assistance
- Perform system commissioning and start-up at customer facilities
- Troubleshoot controls-related service calls via phone or on-site travel
- Train maintenance and operations personnel in running and maintaining the production line
- Collaborate with colleagues to communicate and solve joint challenges
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and Powerflex drives
- 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering-related work preferred
- Demonstrated electrical design skills using AutoCAD Electrical
- Proficiency with computer software applications including MS Office and MS Project
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, and computer skills
- Self-directed, resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Flexible to accept assignments in support of overall site goals
- Ability to influence individuals with and without supervisory authority and motivate extended project teams, including contractors and vendors
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 35 to 40% of the time; international customers may require off-normal hour interface
