About the Role

Solicits, develops, and manages credit relations with individuals and businesses seeking a variety of secured and unsecured loans, including commercial, real estate, and construction. Oversees and manages a commercial loan portfolio, making decisions within prescribed guidelines while referring more complex loans to the Chief Lending Officer. Responsible for the overall profitability and quality of the loan portfolio, ensuring adherence to bank loan procedures, practices, and reporting requirements. Focuses on sales development, referral activities, and fostering a teamwork environment to meet business development and service goals.

Responsibilities

  • Interview loan applicants to assess their business needs, financial abilities, and earnings to determine loan risk.
  • Evaluate the financial condition of clients, collateral value, and management effectiveness to make lending decisions within authority limits.
  • Refer loans exceeding lending authority to the Chief Lending Officer or Loan Committee.
  • Monitor existing loan accounts to ensure compliance with contract and policy limits, requesting additional documentation as needed.
  • Identify unfavorable trends and recommend corrective actions to maintain portfolio quality.
  • Coordinate loan activities with other departments and confer with the Chief Lending Officer on sensitive issues.
  • Attain loan objectives, including origination, delinquency control, fee and interest income, and return on assets.
  • Make referrals to other business units for traditional and non-traditional banking products and services.
  • Establish and meet business development, sales, and referral goals under the direction of the Chief Lending Officer.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan to generate new commercial loans using effective sales techniques.
  • Implement relationship-selling strategies to manage profitable customer relationships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Actively call on new and prospective customers to explore needs, cross-sell products, and recommend solutions aligned with customer financial objectives.
  • Profile customers to gain a comprehensive understanding of their financial situation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory issues related to loan policies (e.g., CRA, Fair Lending) and apply these regulations in daily operations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and efficiency in resolving customer issues while maintaining a thorough knowledge of the bank’s services and operations.
  • Attend all required training and assist with additional duties as assigned.
