About the role

GrabJobs is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to join our technology team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the operational management and technical support of our cloud infrastructure, primarily focusing on AWS GovCloud (US) environments. Your expertise will ensure the secure hosting of federal workloads, including Generative AI (Bedrock) and Machine Learning (SageMaker) applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud architecture, security, and automation, with a proven ability to manage complex multi-account environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that impact national security and federal agencies, while collaborating with a talented team of engineers and developers to maintain high availability, security, and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, with at least 3 years specifically working within AWS GovCloud.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML infrastructure, including managing large language models and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, including module development and cross-account remote state management.
• Advanced knowledge of networking architecture within AWS, including VPC design, Transit Gateways, PrivateLink, and VPC Endpoints.
• Expertise in IAM policies, encryption via AWS KMS, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with operational tooling such as AWS Systems Manager, AWS Config, and observability tools like Grafana and CloudWatch.
• Solid understanding of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP High, NIST SP 800-53, and CMMC v2/3.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work remotely within cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Preferred qualifications: scripting expertise in Python or Bash, operational experience with Amazon EKS, and relevant AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage multi-account AWS GovCloud environments using Terraform and AWS Organizations, ensuring strict isolation of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and commercial data.
• Oversee cloud operations, including automated patching with AWS Systems Manager, backup verification through AWS Backup, and continuous monitoring utilizing Amazon CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Maintain security and compliance by performing regular security updates, image hardening for AMIs and containers, and vulnerability remediation based on findings from Amazon Inspector and Security Hub.
• Ensure endpoints meet FIPS 140-3 standards.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate security tools like GitHub Advanced Security into deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot developer-facing issues related to IAM policies, VPC routing, and EKS connectivity.
• Lead root-cause analysis for performance bottlenecks and service disruptions in both production and staging environments.
• Contribute to architectural reviews, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with evolving cloud security and operational best practices.
