Sr. Cloud Architect
Cognizant’s Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security Services Practice (CIS) helps customers transform infrastructure and workplace to meet the evolving needs of the digital era. The practice delivers cloud-driven modernization, workplace transformation, and operational improvements to enable secure, scalable business environments.
About the role
Design robust Azure IaaS architectures that support large-scale enterprise Windows workloads while ensuring high availability, security, and operational efficiency for critical business applications in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cloud migration strategies using Azure Migrate to assess dependencies, prioritize workloads, and plan phased transitions that minimize downtime and business risk.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using Azure IAC tools such as Terraform and Bicep to standardize deployments, improve repeatability, and reduce configuration drift across multiple environments.
- Optimize network configurations including TCP/IP routing, subnets, and security rules to ensure low-latency, reliable connectivity and secure access between on-premises data centers and Azure environments.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to define Azure governance policies, implement role-based access using Azure AD, and enforce configuration baselines that align with organizational standards.
- Guide application and infrastructure teams in modernizing legacy Windows systems and services to align with cloud-native patterns and best practices while preserving critical business capabilities.
- Perform detailed performance tuning and capacity planning for Azure resources by analyzing usage patterns and right-sizing compute, storage, and networking components to improve cost efficiency.
- Create detailed solution design documents, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks that clearly describe cloud architectures, deployment steps, and recovery procedures for technical teams.
- Coordinate with project managers and cross-functional teams to plan cloud initiatives, manage dependencies, and track progress to ensure milestones are achieved within budget and schedule constraints.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex Azure IaaS environments by analyzing logs, metrics, and network traces to quickly isolate issues and restore services.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and design reviews with engineering teams to promote consistent adoption of Azure architecture standards and reusable patterns.
- Engage with stakeholders in media or similar domains to understand workload characteristics such as streaming content delivery and rights management, and translate them into effective Azure solutions that improve audience experience.
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating new Azure capabilities, refining automation pipelines, and proposing enhancements that strengthen resilience, security, and sustainability for enterprise cloud platforms.
